LISTEN UP ! 3M makes an Electricians water proof rubbery tape that comes in two workable widths and it is super light but thick and durable, stretches and molds to any curve perfectly AND unlike Hockey Tape or Velcro comes off without lifting your bikes finish and NO residue to clean...

i am an absolute weight weenie [ at 68 years old and 135lbs i've carried enough weight around in my decrepit life ] and my DH rig runs a Straitline guide that has NO noving parts, is Canajun eh! is plenty light enough WITH an aluminum bashguard that i have whacked more than a few times and it still hasn't bent [ and if it does i'll probably just bend it back ] and this Polish guide looks like a carbon fiber trainwreck waiting to happen ! [ i'll get my fiber in my cereal thank you ] and even i, with my rickety ol bod am not looking to fly [ i'll get wings when i croak ] but i just want a reasonable DH ride that is light but still heavy enough to hold the ground when i drop in from Garbo down to GLC...

my son overshot a 30 ft gap by 15' after clearing a 20 ft gapper - landed on his face, his full face lid disintegrated at the front [ as it should have ! scorpioned next and broke his back [ t10 ] his nose, black eyes, concussion, whiplash, massive bruises and VERY sore ribs - he then 'walked' part of the way down a mountain for almost an hour as his friend could not take him in a bouncing truck on the logging 'roads' - he was told by physicians it would be 3 mos before any riding at all - 7.5 weeks later he is stunting again; his response to this accident : i am not going to quit something that i love that mostly has small injury risk and, i will NEVER attempt a stunt again without a neck brace AND some kind of back armor - AND if the stunt possibility is too awkward with these, then it's time to go - sometimes it takes brains AND balls to NOT do a stunt...

i do some rips up the B & K road on Sunshine Coast [ Mach Chicken etc ] this looks like an easy fun flow rip - any name for this trail ?

bin thinking about getting some serious lights and doing some SFU night riding this summer; but maybe we can hook up sometime for a rip there.

@nhp890 Yeaah :-) that's right, North America is NOT America, it is a continent, and America is a country within the continent...JB got it - and i wasn't insulting you, just responding to your mistake [ sarcasm ? ] on 'whats not clear about that ?' comment - sorry for my humor that was not intended to be insulting or aggrresive - read my rant above...i [ tried ] to make it clear that insults suck on this site and i was 'not serious' about 'dumb polocks' by stating that comments like that and my own [ if meant ] are the only thing that is dumb...anyway, i was 'dumb' for thinking you would get it - so, no insult intended and you have my sincere apology - now as JB said ' lets end this ' . peace.

ps. and Poland...is the country all us Canadians and 'dumb' Americans [ helped ] to gain Her freedom and many other countries [ including during WW 2 ] ...so, not surprising most of you dissers are young, spoiled, and unappreciative - anyway, give my comment your best shot, but no matter what you say we are all on this planet together: eat, poop, and love biking, so all the comments about 'dumb' Americans etc, Euro Trash, [ even my own - not serious - comment about Dumb Polacks ] are the only thing that is dumb - oh well, think i'll take my 'dumb' ass off to the mountain for a rip [ yep, shred here even in winter months - actually did the DH trails at Christmas including trail upgrades on Xmas day ] so, here's to all my 'Dumb' American, 'Dumb' Polack, and Euro 'Trash' brothers....WHO GIVES A FLYING #*#* WHERE WE ARE FROM ! AND THE ONLY 'DUMB' THING IS WASTING TIME TRASH TALKING - NOW LETS GET OUT AND FLIP A WHIP - or endo :-) CHEERS !

@nhp890 : and dumb polocks have toilet paper for geography books :-) [ Canada is 'in' [North] America ]
jcinkits commented under tomgrundy's blog ( Jan 18, 2012 at 12:43 )
funny as hell - and i got it - obvious...but for all you haters that made dissing comments about 'dumb americans' / 'euro trash' etc. lighten up all of you...the world has enough hate without you adding to it - no wonder PB has such a bad rap for trash talking...

PS PS . Your loyalty and bias no doubt comes from using Blackspire not just from working there...if i ever find my Straitline needs a comparison i will check out the BS line - i mean Blackspire, Blackspire ! :-)
jcinkits commented under mikelevy's blog ( Jan 16, 2012 at 22:41 )
MBUK - wankers all ! seriously - no doubt it was a set up or a bent rear derailleur [ torques the chain and it can get caught between the cassette and the Hub ] i know about 7 or 8 DH pro-racers that all use Straitline and not one of them has ever had a chain slip [ one of them has used the same guide on 3 different bikes ] as for the bashguard bending, never seen that but i suppose it beats breaking as with plastic or lexan, and good possibility of bending it back to work, long enough to finish a rip. Blackspire is an awesome guide too, but is that weight with the bash guard ? [ ps. interesting, both guides are based on the same principal of no moving parts and virtually no wear and i believe Straitline came first - ahh well, chicken or the egg, it's all good...EH ! ]
jcinkits commented under mikelevy's blog ( Jan 13, 2012 at 12:03 )
ANYONE who has ever tried the Straitline Guide and Bashguard will tell you there is simply NOTHING on the market as light or quiet, and it is almost impossible for the chain to come off - AND virtually none of the parts wear out - and for all us canucks out here, it is canajun made, eh!

Hey Dude... Not at Blackspire since I was 11... Just been working in the industry since I was. Got started wrenching bikes at a local shop to subsidize my bikes since as you can imagine at 11 yo it wasnt easy to afford $2k a year on bikes and racing! Been here at Blackspire for 10 years though! Yes, I do ride SFU quite often, mostly weekday evening rides. Weekends are on the shore or whistler Wink
